Team UserFriendly.Org have smashed through another points barrier. We have reached an impressive 10 billion points and are poised to rack up 10 thousand years of runtime. Well done, and thank you all.
We have reached 6 billion points and 7 millennia in CPU years. That's a lot of computing! Congratulations, everyone, and keep up the outstanding work.
We passed 10 million results today, after racking up 5 billion points. Good work!
Well done, and thank you all.
There are always more ways to support your favourite World Community Grid projects. The work we do here is just the beginning — find out what happens to your results after the computing is done.
It's a month of milestones. Just after reaching our second millennium of computing time, we also reached 1 000 0000 000 points. Yes, those fireworks going off spell "PARTY!". Drop by Illiways for a drink on me — I can't thank you all enough.
In other news, World Community Grid have successfully transferred to an IBM data centre in Canada (I suppose they wanted to be closer to Dust Puppy). Also, watch out for beta work units from the new Clean Energy Project.
In one short month, Team UserFriendly.Org will be three years old. We have done well! But we won't be sitting on our laurels - this month is Recruit 3 month. Tell your friends, colleagues and family. Try to get at least three new members signed up. As geeks, we have the skills to help get new members up and running, and the knowledge to answer any questions they may have.
The team map has been updated with a few new features. If you haven't looked in a while, check it out. There is a lot of detail to explore.
World Community Grid have a new promotional video explaining what they do. It is a great introduction — show it to people as part of your own recruitment efforts. This is the first in a series, so there is more good stuff to come.
From the bottom of my heart: thank you! Your efforts are amazing, all of you.
Team UserFriendly.Org competed in the World Community Grid 200 Millionth Result Race this summer. We came in first! Congratulations, all.
And speaking of milestones, while WCG have passed 200 million results, we alone have contributed over 2 million of them. Yes, we contribute more than 1% of the total World Community Grid output. Let's keep it up!
UFie Jason Shanley has provided a modified version of our BOINC Manager skin that also changes the icon to the same Dustpuppy icon used on UserFriendly.Org. Thanks, Jason!
As we move into Autumn, maybe it is time to dust off those boxen that were overheating a few months ago, and fire them up again. Maybe even spread the word about World Community Grid to a few friends and colleagues. Happy crunching!
Illiad has created a new certificate design!
The new design has been set as the default — some of your old certificates will use this design, and new awards will use this design until you customise them. You can choose from any of the three designs currently available.
Today, Team UserFriendly.Org are celebrating a millennium of crunching. Not a millennium measured in linear time, obviously. Back then, a computer was someone who was good with an abacus, and the biggest threats to health were cholera and plague.
Some things haven't changed, though. Many parts of the world still don't have clean water, and the people are vulnerable to the same centuries-old diseases. Then we have our modern diseases, and modern transport means epidemics can span the globe.
Thank you for making a difference.
